Your issue might be a bad USB port. Go to BIOS an see if you can disable the USB ports; this won't fix the issue but may help you to find out the issue.

Ok. I have 3 USB ports in my laptop - 1 with the mouse, 1 keyboard and 1 for the flash drives - everything works when i use. USB_BUGCODE_DRIVER comes out of the blue and just shows a BSOD! :eeew:

Now i have Windows vista home premium installed in one partition, windows 7 in another partition - both of them shows the same USB_BUGCODE_DRIVER problem - the next time it comes ill note the number down.. its irritating now.

One more thing i noticed when using 7, there was a sound (similar to when you insert the removable disk in the usb) coming once in 2 minutes or so. I confirmed the sound by testing the windows sound settings where it corresponded to the removing or inserting removable media...

Now my windows vista is corrupted again because of this. Im not sure when 7's gonna get corrupt (i installed it last night)

Please suggest something! (i dont have a clue how to disable usb in bios.. i dont see an option like that inside??!! But if i disable, i wont be able to use my keyboard/mouse/ext drives, right?)

Help!

There’s still the possibility of a bad USB port, but could also be a bad USB accessory, i.e. mouse, keyboard or flash-drive. Unplug the flash drives if haven’t done so. As for keyboard and mouse, you can actually run your PC without a mouse for troubleshooting purposes and just use the keyboard, or try borrowing another mouse. Or you can also unplug the keyboard and use the mouse and the on-screen-keyboard; Start > All Programs > Accessories > Ease of Access > On-screen-keyboard.

Or you can purchase a USB hub, connect your keyboard and mouse to the hub and try connecting the hub to each of your three USB drives. This would probably help you isolate the bad USB drive, if there’s a one of course. You can purchase a USB hub for as little as $10.00US and it may come on handy.

Looks like one of those usb ports (or all three?) got problems! I reinstalled the OS, didnt knew how to disable usb in bios, so i disabled the universal serial bus controllers in device manager, and now the system looks stable. I think i have to give it to HP for USB replacement? I'm still under hardware warranty.

I have 2 partitions on this system C has 55 GB and D 56 GB. OS is in D, and i can't see the other 55 GB partition. what mistake did i make?

There's the possibility that you deleted the partition. Clcik Start > Right Click Computer > Properties > Manage > Storage > Disk Management > If partition is there, you'll have to make it active
