| Vista Premium Semi-Locks Up During Internet Session System ACER computer -Intel Quad 6600 4 gigs-ram ATI Radeon 2600 video card. When I am internet browsing on any one of the three browsers -Opera,Explorer or Firefox my Vista computer will refuse to load a new webpage. I can still check email and access most other other programs. On occasion I can't shut down the offending Firefox using Task Manager, or if I can it makes no difference in that I can still not browse using the other two browsers. Usually Opera and Explorer can be shut down with the task manager but still no internet access. It can happen two minutes after going on line or 3 hours later. This does not happen on my Ubuntu laptop or XP laptop running the latest versions of the same three browsers. I have to hard reboot Vista shut down the computer as the Normal Shut down will not work. The hard shut down and subsequent restart will get the browsers working again. I have rebooted Vista more in the last 10 days than XP in the last 5 years! Has anyone experience a similar problem and found a solution? ![]() Cheers...Gerry |

| Hi, I have a very similar issue on Vista only with Ie7. IE just siezes up for minutes at a time. This means that no buttons or controls can be accessed - even the Close button. Sometimes it comes back, sometimes it requires Ctrl+Alt+Del to get rid of it. It is very frustrating as it happens regularly, and never on the same two web sites. Often the status bar says "Waiting for [website]". It occured as i got to this web site! I did find resources that suggested removing IE addons, one by one until the issue felt resolved. I did this but to no avail. Clearly this is something to do with Internet connectivity. One thing I notice is that the Internet icon in the Status Tray is rubbish. Often it says I have no internet connection when i obviously do. Is there a cure for this? Cheers Russell |
