Red face Bloat Ware called Nero 8.x

Ok, I decided to try Nero 8. again, or actually the 3d time... version 8.1.1.0 b.
1st It uncompresses and takes a bit of time... then reboot is necessary due to fact it found (due to bad uninstaller on Nero7) remnants of Nero 7.
2n, is Suddenly BitDefender STARTS and says No "Way this Nero MSi is Malware" and blockes. Now the reason is Nero.MSI actually includes ASK.com - malware... so you have to say YES run Nero.MSI.. this takes a but to install configure and then it asks OK to reboot or Nero 8 will not run correctly...I say AOK, all programs close, and SHUTDOWN runs for about 5 min, I then manually force a restart... which in effect allows Nero 8 to shutdown correctly, and your system to restart....
Gads, it really is bloat ware... Installed size is 409MB in the Nero folder alone.
does it work, I'll let you know when I test it...

I have gone away and always come back to Nero. I have Roxio at work and I find the interface better but Nero just does more IMHO.

Gosh is it a pain to install and uninstall. You said a mouthful. :agreed:

For a quick disk copy I do like Roxio better. For iso and other tasks I will take Nero anyday even with all the pain in da butt install glitches I always get.

Love Nero 8 and my trick is to install only what you want or need in custom install and unclick all the option on associating the music videos etc and you get a slimmed down version i am using version 8 on three systems and it works great

My feelings have changed about nero. I had my system running great and had two programs left

MSMONEY and NERO.

Nero crashed me so bad the Vista disk said it could not repair it...It has taken over 2 hours to get back up and running. I had to delete one by one and then I finally got back into windows...

ISOs easy for me with Roxio. I also like Power2Go; it's really, really easy for ISOs.

I like ISO Recorder v3 for Vista or v2 for XP. It's free and works fine. http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm.

I use Nero 8 with my laptop and never had any problems. Like Airman, I also installed just the applications I need and nothing else. I agree with Snuffy, Power2Go is very easy to use and works fine. It came with my eMachine.

I think the reason these programs are getting so large is due to competition. They are all trying to out-duel each other.
