| Moving Foward Microsoft has confirmed that its currently developing a new build of Windows 7 in time for this years PDC. Currently Microsoft is playing around with using the ribbon from Office 2007 in the windows shell and other windows apps. Apparently the build they are working on (Milestone 3) is surprisingly stable and usable, and well ahead of where Windows Vista was at this point in its development cycle. Also something that was mentioned on Vista Babble recently, Microsoft is rumoured to be taking out key programs such as Movie Maker, Windows Mail and so on and having them as separate downloads via Windows Live. Although this is not confirmed a number of sources who have a copy of milestone 3 have said its true. Microsoft is expected to ship the first Windows 7 Beta by the end of the year, i personaly love the beta stages of a product and i know several of our other members do. Its going to be exciting to see how they can follow up from such as great product like Windows Vista. This leads me on to my next question for everyone on this site, especially the admin. Is now the time to expand on Vista Babble and create a new site dedicated for Windows 7 or perhaps and upgrade to Vista Babble? With the experience of our regulars and the demand for info that's bound to come with the Windows 7 Beta its worth considering.

| It is great news to hear a new beta is on the horizon... it's even better news to hear that the os will be slightly modular! In regards to expansion etc, I agree, we should probably start thinking of a new format for our forums... Sirk is our resident wise guy for crowdgather, but is on holiday at the moment. I would suggest you PM him with some ideas... including ideas for polls etc... I know crowdgather is currently in the process of creating some very interesting features across their sites, so this could be the perfect time to start something big! crabby |
