I'll be getting my new laptop today and will be running Win 7 in no time. Hopefully I'll get as lucky as last year and get this OS for free. I agree that this is mostly an upgrade, but in a way I'd rather deal with one installation rather than an installation and then an upgrade (Two separate discs).

I'm dual-booting Vista and Win 7 on both of my PCs, the 64 Bit and the 32 Bit. I installed both OSs booting from the DVD.

1. On the 64, whether or not I have the disc (DVD) in the drive, when I boot the PC it goes to the boot up screen, which gives me the choice of Win 7 or Vista.

2. On the 32, if the disc is in the drive, the PC automatically boots to Win 7. However, if the disc is removed from the drive, it boots into Vista.

This of course has to do with the fact that my 32 Bit system is running one SATA and one EIDE hard drive, while the 64 is running two EIDE...SATA drives boot up sequence can be changed directly from the BIOS.

I point this out in case someone here encounters this same issue and begin to pull his/her hair out trying to figure out what the issue is.

The only problem i have had with Windows 7 is driver related, i cant seem to get my Windows Mobile device to register. Its a HTC S620 and it comes up with a generic driver error every time i connect.

I cant seem to find any drivers online as its suposed to connect right up with Sync center.

If anyone happens to stumble across a cure for this please let me know.

Had you tried the Update driver option...it goes online and tries to find it.

Hopefully by now your driver issue has been corrected. So far, only a hand full of people here have reported installing the Beta. Would be nice to hear from as many PC users as possible about their experiences. I think, as opposed to Vista, Win 7 is here to stay. Many users decided to keep Win XP because of the many issues that were reported during Vista's beta. This time Microsoft decided not to make the same mistake and created a very stable beta and so far, judging by the many comments, it has done a great job. The next thing we are waiting for is for the price and the different flavors that'll be offered.

Well... here is my first actuall annoyance with Windows 7.

I open up IE and go to download something. Whilst it's downloading I close the main window because I don't need it. Then half way through I want to open IE again, but I can't just click it... I have to right click and go to Open IE... quite annoying!!!

Yes I experienced the same thing while downloading Windows Live Mail. I believe that's how IE used to be before IE6 if I'm not mistaken. Most often I use Google Chrome while IE is busy downloading.

There's also a specific website from work where I must use IE7 for its complete functionality; not even Google Chrome or Firefox will work. This is a programmer's issue and so far there hasn't been a fix or an attempt to fix it.

Concerning Windows 7 Ultimate; the reality is that we don't know what Microsoft may "ultimately" has under its sleeve when it comes to Win 7 "Ultimate". The possibilities are that the promises for Vista "Ultimate's" ultimate extras will "ultimately" become a reality and that Win 7 "Ultimate" will "ultimately" become the "ultimate" OS for those of us who are always in search for the "ultimate" experience. Of course, "ultimately" MS most decide to come up with the "ultimate" extras for Win 7 "Ultimate", which they "ultimately" promised for Vista "Ultimate", but that "ultimately" did not show up when users installed Vista "Ultimate" on their "ultimate" machines, thus feeling "ultimately" disappointed. Perhaps if Win 7 "Ultimate" is built with those "ultimate" extras, will "ultimately" convince user, who were "ultimately" disappointed with Vista "Ultimate's" "ultimate" extras to install Win 7 "Ultimate. "Ultimately", the "ultimate" extras will be the "ultimate" factor on the success of Win 7 "Ultimate". :beta:

Lol! Great post Felix

I think the best Vista Ultimate would be a free upgrade to Windows 7.

Thanks Crabby, just a little humor...but true in a sense. As for Win 7 Ultimate, you might be correct; it might as well be a free upgrade to Vista Ultimate, with a few strings attached of course.

I updated my notebook to Win 7. I'll be traveling tomorrow and decided to upgrade, instead of a clean installaion, so my files will still be ready when I get to Las Vegas. Installation took over an hour, of course I didn't have to reinstall the software that was already insalled under Vista, but still it's a long time. The installation went just fine, I did it while watching the Iron Man movie. Everything seems to be working just fine, except I can't seen to find Firefox 3.0. It was installed under Vista, but somehow, after Win 7 installation, it's gone.

When I get a chance to test all my software I will post more about this upgrade.

only had one real problem so far whilst trying to move a 14gig plus file from my spare hard drive to a western digital Ethernet hard drive I have connected on the system my computer blue screened three times in a row so I booted in vista and tried to move the file from there only to discover there was not enough space left on the drive vista gave me a message to let me know while windows seven just blue screened I have sent in a report to let them know but I am still pretty impressed with it so far also discovered the built in desktop wallpaper changer, but it did not like my screen saver Dream Aquarium got the blue screen a couple of times and worked other times so maybe when they have ironed out a few small glitches and polished it here and there it will then run fine
