Wanted to install Win 7 on my new laptop but will be traveling to Las Vegas for a few weeks and can't afford to mess with Win 7 for now. When I get back I'll give it a try and post the results.

I started the installation booting from the DVD, selecting "Custom Install" and the format drive option so it doesn't create a windows.old folder.

Note that the upgrade option from Win XP is not available; it can only upgrade a Vista machine. Don't know if that will be the case when the final version arrives, but I imagine the option will be available.

must say i was plesently surpised to see that it ran great on an machine that is getting on a bit. Its allmost as if Windows 7 knew it was an older machine and worked around it. With full aero and settings i managed to get a great running OS on a:
