Lost GUI

I can't boot into a gui now because I made a mistake
following directions on modifying themes.

I renamed the three files necessary for theming Vista
*before* unpacking the rar archive with the replacement
files.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Anyway, what's the best way to fix this without messing
up my various other tweaks, such as services I've
disabled, etc? I don't want to re-install. Can I reach
the System Restore from a command line? And how do
I get to the command line in this case? ..

Help will be greatly appreciated.

At boot, press f8... they will give you all the options you need... I presume you know where your files are and how to restore them?

Yes, Crabby, I do; they're in the /windows/system32 folder. All I
did was rename them to uxtheme.old, etc, replacing the dll
extension with old.

There are three of them and I can't remember the exact names
of the other two, but I was going to do a search in that folder for
".old" files, then I'd spot them and just rename them back.

Do I need to have my Vista installation disk in to do this?

Lost GUI [RESOLVED]

I did it.. going into the command interface and
typing "help" brought me a list of commands to use
to find and correct the file names.

Everything is back to normal now.

Thanks for responding, Crabby.

Thanks, Snuffy!

Here's hoping I'll never have to use that.
