Hi and welcome to the site, i know how you feel vista is a nightmare when shutting down, sometimes it takes ages for my PC to shutdown. Im talking about 10 mins +. Does your computer just not shutdown alltogher or does it just take a realy long time?

:welcome: This sounds like a driver issue. If you could download belarc and post the report that would be great!

It details all your hardware and the drivers for each one.

REMEMBER: check the report before sending for serials and remove them!!!

If you dont want to use belarc then just give as much detail as you can.

It could also be software related. Any new software you installed lately? I have that same issue three weeks ago when I installed the new OneCare beta...in my case the PC would not shut down at all. It'll show the Shutting down message, but it would not shut down. Removing OneCare fixed the problem.

So if you can, go to Control Panel > Uninstall a program. You can verify the date each program was installed. Remove a program, starting with the most recent one and restart the PC. Please note that you’ll be out of luck if you don’t have the program to reinstall, especially if you really need it. Although in the case of anti-virus and anti-spyware, there are many available good/free applications to choose from.
