What version of Vista?

Excuse my ignorance, and please move this if there is a better forum for this question.

When I did the application to see if my pc could run vista, it asked me some questions about what I might want to do and then recommeneded the Ultimate version. I see here a copy of Premium is being given away. What other versions of Vista exist and is there a handy chart that compares the features?

Google for it, most of it is marketing, but the premium edition is good for gaming if my memory serves...

I just saw a blurb somewhere that said the ultimate edition was going to be over $750.00

That seems pretty high for an operating system.

Josh,

Thanks for the listing. That is good information. As for the price of ultimate, I found the story that mentioned it. I was wrong on $750, instead they said $679.

That article says OFFICE 2007 Ultimate will be $679. It says VISTA ultimate will be about $450.

I was right about Vista UE then (being $450). However can anyone give me UK prices? (Or should I just convert it).

Probably around 350 sterling, depends what the exchange rate is in 1-2 years (depending on when vista comes out )

Oh my goodness. I read the article multiple times and every time I saw it I thought it said Ultimate. I think I know what happened. When I first looked it up I got the edited blurb google gives and it put the ULTIMATE and the price in the same line, so when I read the article I just put the wrong items together.

Sorry for the confusion.

:sorry:

Xp was 400$-500 when it first came out if my memory serves the price will be 3/4 of what it was after the first year...especially after any flaws come to light and after piracy cracks it...

Won't it be free after it is cracked? Not promoting piracy or anything of the like just a bit tongue and cheek.

I am just not really happy with them having so many different versions of the operating system with real little benefit for the increased pricing structure.

I wish they just had one core operating system and one affordable price.

I would suspect OEM versions would be out there right at release or shortly thereafter. I think in the past Microsoft has released upgrades for OEM's before they launched the retail versions. I doubt that would be the case for an entirely new product though, as I am sure they are going to hype it up as much as possible for a big midnight madness frenzy.

How you mean big midnight frenzy? Do you mean when buying an OEM computer with Vista on or do you mean the night Vista comes out there will be a frenzy just to buy the software thanks ps need details.
