| My personal opinion is that Vista feels faster than Windows XP and has greater functionality. When i go back to a Windows XP computer it always feels less responsive and im missing features i rely on such as the integrated search. Vista is also more secure than XP, a lot less prone to spyware and viruses. Having said that Vista does not suite everyone as it does require moderate hardware to run on. If your computer is relativity new you shouldn't have a problem but an older computer may struggle to keep up with Vista. Also the next version of Windows, Windows 7 is on track for a 2009 release, so it might be worth waiting for that. If i would recommend a version of Vista it would be Home Premium, it has great features for the average user. Ulitmate edition isn't required unless you want to combine the features of Home Premium and Business edition in one product.

| I agree on all counts; Vista is a much better and fun OS than Win XP. I know that hard core XP enthusiast disagree, but the improvement from XP to Vista are clearly outstanding. Home Premium is the way to go, less expensive than Ultimate and almost all the options you'll ever need. If you are upgrading your PC to Vista, make sure it exceeds its requirements; i.e. 512MB RAM and 800MHz CPU are the minimum requirements, but it'll run slower than with XP, and get a nice video card. Of course, if you're upgrading a notebook, you'll be limited by its hardware. Whether you want to wait for Win 7 or not, that's an option, but it will be a while before Win 7 is fully deployed.

| Vista is a nicer experience which requires a better computer. If you have a computer which is well above the minimum specs of Vista, then it's a good upgrade. If you are close to the minimum specs then it will feel slugish compared to XP. Of the two operating systems, Vista is now the stabler, more user friendly, more ergodynamic and more secure operating system. Vista Premium is the best choice... you'll get Aero and Media Center, and it doesn't cost the Earth. crabby |

| Hey Rkb.. if you are really looking for a change with ur OS and are not on a fast track or can consolidate with xp for some time.. The best advice on my part would be to wait and watch for some time as Windows 7 beta is out there and the best bet would be, to go for Windows 7 rather than vista.
