| Installing vista on Fat32 I finally got my new Macbook Pro. I tried all day to install Vista but it kept crashing and just wouldn't go on. I decided to install XP because then I have the option of upgrading to Vista. Now when I started installing the Vista it formatted the Windows partition as NTFS. I've installed the XP on a Fat32 partition because Mac OS X doesn't understand NTFS and will have troubles reading files I have on the windows side. So my hope in installing XP on Fat32 is that Mac will be able to see the files. Now my question is when I go to upgrade to Vista will it have a problem with the Fat32 XP installation?

| I don't believe Vista can be installed on a Fat32 HDD. See below: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926069 Vista, unlike XP does not give a Fat32 option at the install stage, just NTFS. |

| This link implies that Vista can be installed on FAT32, but there are some limitations. http://technet2.microsoft.com/Window....mspx?mfr=true This link implies otherwise; it cannot be installed on a FAT32 partition; http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=30128 Here's alink that may provide some help if you are running Mac: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=10184 |
