Any Slackware 10 experts in here?

I ask because I got is on my drive, and actually like it except for the fact that I cannot connect to the internet at all on my SBC DSL connection. I have played around with netconfig changing things a dozen times or so, but still no internet. ifconfig lists my nic on eth0, and when I check it out(the nic) it is working too, just no internet. Any ideas on this one?

Use the net config and just set the thing to dhcp and it should work.

I tried that, and believe me, it does not work. It asks for more than just if you are using dhcp, it asks for domain name, host name, etc too.

just make those up, just put in ur name as the domain name and host name put localhost.

they dont mean anything and the extra setting box just leave empty.

They migt mean something if ur networking ur computers up, but at the moment just to get it connect to hte internet is more important.

KONGO uses slack a lot, a lot more than me, lol.

if all else fails, power recycle the modem and reboot the PC.

Um, I have Slack 9.1 installed, but I use it very rarely these days. It's been months since I booted it last time...

For host name, choose what you want your computer to be called (the Volkerding standard is darkstar). For domain name, choose the domain of your ISP I suppose.

Google turned up a bunch of results, that one was one of them.

Here's the DHCPcd daemon webpage:

And a HowTo on DHCP and Linux:
