| Anyone here run MythTV on a mini-itx box? As the title says, I'm attempting to build myself a dedicated pvr. The primary functions of this box are going to be dvd playback and recording/watching tv shows from standard cable tv. Quick system specs: Silverstone HTPC case Jetway MB (via eden 1.2ghz, cn700) jetway daughterboard for pcmcia wireless card (very cool add-on) Netgear wg511 pcmcia card 512mb ddr 667 Hauppauge pvr-350 w/ remote Samsung 250gb ata 100 hd slim dvdrw-cdrw IMedia Mythtv linux 4.0.1,(includes latest ivtv and mythtv stuff) This is connected to a 32" sony tv via the s-video output from the pvr-350. Audio goes from the 350 to my rca home theater via rca cables. Currently I have everything working, for the most part, on an external lcd monitor. Remote works, tv input seems fine etc. What I'm looking to do is setup mythtv to display only on the tv and get the wireless portion working for the channel lineups and schedules. This currently works when hard wired so i know I have the setup done correctly. As far as I can tell, I need to edit xorg.conf and tell it how and where to output but I cannot find any instructions that make sense to me. Most people appear to be using an nvidia card, not the pvr-350. Help please. |

| Sorry I can't help, but I am interested in your project. I am currently thinking about a replacement for my prismiq media player. I would like to see how this goes. Time to look up mythTV

| Have you tried GB-PVR? Its freeware. I've been running it for awhile now, and really like it. Check it out.

Here's the latest: Tried out Imedia Mythtv 4 and 5... 4.0.1 runs but has lockup issues, 5.0 doesn't run at all. THey claim it was a beta uploaded and are fixing it. Request for help with tv out have so far been unanswered (2 weeks +), gave up, stay away for now. Moved on to KnoppMyth(5E50 or something). Installed ok, would not run kept getting c7 timeout error, known issue supposed to be fixed in next release. No idea when it will be out. Gave up. Tried MythDora(3.2) next. WOW, installed and runs like a champ. Support forum has superb how to's and answers to common issues in FAQ. Currently have the system running on a monitor and live tv on tv screen, sound comes through pvr-350 into home theater. Looks fantastic and sounds just as good. Had some ghosting initially, but adding a line to a config file fixed that right up. Plan on having X displayed on TV this evening, I'm almost there I'm just missing something in the xorg.conf file settings. Next step is to get wireless wpa-psk working. Not very easy according to what I've read so far but I'll get there. I can tell you this much, it's been frustrating as hell to get this done, being the linux noob that I am. Last night at 12 am it was very exciting to get live tv to pause and record, it was well worth the effort.

It's too bad too as the program looks very well done and he's a decent guy trying to help on the forums. I still might keep it in mind for the basement tv though.

| Well I've had it running for about a week now, so far so good. I still have the monitor hooked up as I'm still working on the wireless stuff. One nice thing about mythdora is it includes all the madwifi stuff and scripts for netgear wireless cards, no downloading necessary which is nice because my wired connection is in the basement. |

| Very interesting. I wonder if GBPVR would work with an ATI AIW X800XT tv tuner card. ![]() __________________ Asus P4P800 Deluxe Intel P4 3.2 Extreme Edition @ 3.47 / Zalman CNPS7000-AlCu / Arctic Silver Ceramique 2x512 Mushkin PC3500 222 Black Hi Performance Level II ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon X800 XT / Samsung Syncmaster 215TW 21" Wide Screen LCD Two Western Digital RE2 500 Gb YS Raid Edition SATA hdd's Two Western Digital 250 Gb Raid Edition hdd's Two Western Digital My Book 500 Gb external USB2/Firewire hard drives LiteOn 165H6S DVD Super AllWriter / LiteOn 166s 16x DVD-Rom Onboard LAN Antec SX1240 full tower Soundblaster Audigy 2 zs Platinum / CambridgeSoundworks 5.1 DTT 3500 Digital Speakers Logitech G5 Laser Mouse Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard Razer eXactMat + eXactRest win2000 |

| Update #2 Well it's been a few months and so far everything is good. I still cannot get the output on the tv only, every time I try I end up hosing the install and have to start over. Recording 1 hour shows has been running around 2.2GB each, not too shabby. Playback quality has been good, not the best but I am only using s-video to an older tv. I think with a newer lcd tv and a newer card this would be outstanding. I now tend to watch live tv through the box, rather than standard tv because of the pause feature. I just wish I had enough power to do realtime commercial removal. |
