| I am running the new release right now (just installed). It will take me a while to get used to the new menu, plus the default fonts are tiny. Everything seems to be working except for my wireless card and the sound mixer, so I have no sound and need to use an Ethernet cable for Internet access right now. |

| I will give it awhile before I install it, my 10.0 works flawless and I have no need to upgrade to 10.2. Probably after we have moved to our new house and I can use a wired network again I will install 10.2. |

| I do and it never gave me any issues, my wireless card (RT2500 chipset) works better in Linux than in WXP. |

| For the record, I discovered a fix to the sound problem. To do this in YaST, select: Security and Users --> User Management. Select the user and click Edit. Click on the Details tab. Click on the Audio group. Click Accept and then Finish. I have no clue regarding why the normal users would be denied audio. ![]() |

| Tried to install it on my PC yesterday (using the DVD as installation source) but got stuck at GRUB configuration cause i wasn´t able to select floppy disk (fd0) as option where to put GRUB at. Found only one similiar entry in another linux forum where the poster was told to use LILO instead of GRUB , because it seems that novell/suse has removed the option to boot from floppy in GRUB but not in LILO. Could you start the installation process and try to set start-up so that GRUB is installed on a floppy disk? Is this option missing for GRUB for you too? Is it really only available with LILO? Greetings Dru

| Is this a clean install onto a spare drive? If so, I can't see why you would need to save GRUB to a floppy. You would save it to the / of the HD. Then you could make a GRUB boot floppy after the machine is up and running. On my own sys at home, I have XP on a 320GB SATA drive and Linux on a 100GB PATA drive. I then choose which HD to boot from through the BIOS.

| I don't recommend using LILO. AFAIK, LILO is not supported like GRUB is. If you are needing the bootloader information because you need to boot the OS from the same drive then allow GRUB to be placed on your root directory ("/") and start using something like XOSL to select which OS to boot up. | This is a clean install, onto diff partitions on my hdd's. The partitions look like this: hda (200 GB) hda1(8GB)=NTFS,WinXP system and boot partition hda3(146GB)=NTFS, windows programs, games, data hda5(28GB)= ext3, ubuntu \ hda6(28GB)= ext3, openSuSE 10.2 \ hdb (160GB) hdb1(1 GB)=FAT, WinXP Pagefile hdb5(80MB)=ext3, ubuntu boot (partition before 1024th cylinder) hdb6(80MB)=ext3, openSuSE 10.2 boot (before 1024th cylinder) hdb7(1GB)=swap, swap for ubuntu and suse hdb3(~157GB)=NTFS, recorded movies With all my previous installations i did put GRUB on a floppy, so when i pop in the ubuntu or SuSE floppy the pc booted either SuSE or ubuntu. And i used GUB for that since as it was supported by SuSe. With the last version of opensuse 10.2, beside the german version of the menu for setting up your system start options being the most confusing and unclear SuSE/Novell has ever produced, i can setup dev/fd0 only wiht LILO. When i choose GRUB, i can select options for boot sector and/or MBR of diff. partition, etc. etc. but i can´t selct dev/fd0 anywhere. When i choose LILO, i get the same option previous Versions offerd (for LILO and GRUB) where i can select dev/fd0. Tried to make fresh install again yesterday evening, came to the point where it rebooted for the first time, LILO stopped after writing a line of dots (.................................................................................). Greetings Dru
