First Vista Upgrade (Release Candidate) Available To Public

This isn't the final version of Vista's upgrade, but the general public can now get their hands on SP1 RC Refresh right now. Go here to get it.

This consists mainly of bug fixes and performance enhancements, with no major new stuff. Wired warns, however, "bear in mind that SP1 RC Refresh, as the update is known, requires previous versions of SP1 to be uninstalled first, and there are several updates you’ll need to apply to your existing Vista install which can’t be removed later should you want to downgrade to a stable version of Vista."

The final version of SP1 should be ready sometime next month.

I can't wait to get my hands on RC1 or gold. Yes, I have a "very skeptical open mind" about SP1. I am afraid that I will be sitting this one out until many returns are in. I don't see that it will help me any. I am having no problems with either Vista 32- or 64-bit; don't use the Vista defrag; all my programs work well; and it won't speed my network up. I can't see anything it will do for me but put me more under Microsoft's thumb. Sorry Bill. I really love you and MS.

OK, I've yaked enought about my wait and see attitude. Thanks for your post. Your info is newsworthy and some will be very happy about the availability. Don't anyone pay any attention whatsoever to what I said. I am a deluded person.:sorry:
