I'll be looking forward to hearing too. My laptop is an XP Media Center SP2, so if it looks like a good upgrade I would have a use for it.

Wink Monster Update for MCE folks

Nice big hunk of Media Center Files... so I'm sure you will be happy with it.

Quote:
[MediaCenter.Condition]
InstallFromSection=MediaCenter.Files
Operation=CustomFunction,SpCustom.dll,IsMediaCenterPC
CopyFlags=SP_COPY_NEWER_OR_SAME | SP_COPY_REPLACEONLY

[MediaCenter.Files]
CopyFiles=MediaCenter.Cache.files
CopyFiles=MediaCenter.EHome.files

[MediaCenter.Reg.Install.Condition]
InstallFromSection=MediaCenter.Reg.Install
Operation=CustomFunction,SpCustom.dll,IsMediaCenterPC
to prove to those that tell you NO MCE updates , they are wrong... monster update.

Unhappy Nothing is sacred No even from Germany - EU

Windows XP SP3 RC is available exclusively to over 15,000 testers via Microsoft Connect. The Redmond company is delivering all members of the beta testing program of XP SP3 with a script set up to introduce a registry key, that subsequently permits access to the Release Candidate of XP SP3, according to Daniel Melanchthon, Technology Advisor for Microsoft Germany.
You will be able to find Windows XP Build 2600.xpsp.071030-1537: Service Pack 3, v.3244 weighing in at some 337 MB – namely the Release Candidate for XP SP3.
All sworn to secrecy... then how the Hell did this get out.

Quote:
@echo off
reg delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\XPSP3 /f 2> NUL
reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\XPSP3 /v RCPreview /t REG_SZ /d 1c667073-b87f-4f52-a479-98c85711d869 /f
echo XPSP3 registry key has been set. Please check for updates in Windows Update.
pause
Just copy the code that starts with "@echo off" into a text editor, Notepad will do fine. It doesn't matter the name under which you save it, but what does matter is the extension. Save As "WinXPSP3RC.cmd" for example, but pay attention to the .CMD, and in notepad select the All Files option and not .TXT. Apply the Regedit; it may require a restart, and then just check for Updates. You will be able to find Windows XP Build 2600.xpsp.071030-1537: Service Pack 3, v.3244 weighing in at some 337 MB – namely the Release Candidate for XP SP3.

Germany friend says this: windowsxp-kb936929-sp3-x86-enu.exe easy to find if you look.

When copying and pasting the above command, one must first delete the space between the first two reg commands or "...\Curr entVersion..."

Thanks Snuffy. I tried and it worked. Took a while because it's an older Dell PC with older everything. I deleted the extra space on the two commands, otherwise it will show an error.
