| built in voice recognition? I hear Windows Vista has built in voice recognition... can anyone tell me more about it? Can you navigate the interface by voice, dictate documents, or both? How good is the voice recognition? Does it slow down your computer? Thanks for any advice you can give me on this, I might be in the market for a new computer soon and am wondering if I should stick to what I know or take a leap of faith to Vista. Unfortunately I have no way of trying it out for myself! |

| It actually works pretty well. I guess it depends upon what you need, but I think it may be what you are looking for. But to be sure, I would suggest you check out this cool video that shows you everything in action. Check out the demo video here. This guy does a good job of going through the basics and shows it happening real time. It may be enough for you to decide if this is enough for what you need.

| Not bad, although it does look a little slower then what I'm used to. I'm so happy to see that Microsoft thought of accessibility when adding voice recognition to Vista; it is going to make things so much easier for people with physical disabilities to use any computer (with Vista) that they encounter. Thanks so much for posting that video, it was exactly what I needed to know!

| Wow I had not heard that. This is actually something that might get me to buy it sooner. I bought and sampled IBM's Via Voice many years ago, and it worked fairly well but was not quite what I needed. Basically it was still faster for me to type than talk. I wonder how far the technology has come in the last 7 or 8 years. This would be great news if it were functional. |
