Tried increasing it in your bios?

Usualy f2, f10 or delete gets you in to your bios as soon as you switch on your computer. From there it should be easy!

I have looked at the manual for your laptop and it has no information about the bios. So I am basically blind When you enter bios (f2) You should have a screen with time date and hard drive info I guess, this screen will also tell you how to navigate the bios (usualy the arrow keys plus Enter and Page Up Page Down).

All I can say is HAPPY HUNTING! I have never heard of a notebook with an integrated chip being unable to change the memory assigned to it

Hmm... if it is greyed out then maybe its hardlocked? Contact Gateway to find out I suppose? Or you could download the updated bios from their website? That may help
