Way to go Ants, it'll get better. Also, expect more 64-bit drivers and better support.

Hi crabby:

I am "revistaing" this topic. I am not big or worrying how long my machine will run on battery. Indeed, I always just set my power options when on battery for max performance. But, now that I have used Vista for a long time and frequently on battery, I can't say that I have every had a low-battery problem. When on battery, I am likely to be there, say, 4 or 5 hours.

Compatability Wizard Said "Yes," Vista says "No"

I am running XP and downloaded the Compatability Wizard
which OKed my system, however the installation did not
succeed.

It couln't see my nVidia FX 5200 card, or my HP Deskjet
1320 printer, or my Etherfast cable connection card.

So, I'm out a hundred dollars.. thanks to a crappy
Compatability Wizard, I guess.

But, anyway, I tuned the Tablet PC components off, and the snipper went away. It's a handy device, but I am going to do away with it for a while. The images one gets are not nearly as good as those from doing a screenshot and then using Paint/Photoshop. Going this route will make me faster with Photoshop. It seems odd to me that the snipper would not be installed sans the rest of the Tablet components on a "full function" machine.
Since I became a mod here, I decided that I needed the snipping tool again--the reason being that our space allowances for attached images are relatively small. So, the "snipper" facilitates making smallish images quickly. Anyway, I hovered over the Tablet PC area when turning Table PC Components back on and saw the "snipper" listed--implying there was no reason for be to deselect the Table PC Component to see that the "snipper" is one of them. Bah!

I think that snippet tool is awesome. I was a super mod at a nasty website until my conscience got the better of me recently. I could of used it then... It has a lot of things to save from adding 3rd party apps. Very cool OS

Ive reached a 5.3 Rating now and aren't going to stop at that <== Big Cheesy GRIN

I did have to do a couple of upgrades before installing Vista on my machine:

Dell Dimension 8300 (bought 5/04)
Intel P4 3.0 GHz, HT enabled
Intel 875P mobo (modified for Dell)
1.5 GB DDR RAM [upgraded from 768MB for Vista]
NEC DVD-RW 16x
Lite-On CD-RW 58x/DVD-R
XFX NVidia 6800XT 256MB AGP [had a 6200 which had no problems with Vista but I wanted a better card anyway]
Dell 1907FP (Digital) monitor
Creative Soundblaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro [upgraded from Soundblaster Live! Value card for Vista]
Inspire P7800 7.1 speakers
MS LaserMouse 6000
Dell Multimedia Keyboard

Experience Index-- 4.2 (processor scoring lowest)

I will have to upgrade to newer Video card sometime in the future but the one I have now is plenty sharp, got the sound taken care of with new card by bluegears and two SATA drives 80 and 160 gig WD. I am one who is always upgrading to something might go to Core2Duo by next year after i build a new system for my brother-in-law,which wil be a Vista box with a core2duo chip. My index on my system is 4.4 from the lowest rating which is my video card.
