Thumbs up Firewall settings

Hi folks,
I'm very new to this, so please be patient with me:
My problem is that every time I log on with my new laptop I have to switch on the in built firewall also. No matter what I do they will not stay switched on.
What am I doing wrong.

Is there another firewall installed? Many companies pre install trial versions of other software so it could be that that is disabling it.

Mildbeer, I still need a reply to my question otherwise I'll presume it's been fixed.

Shwalt, it sounds like the antivirus is stopping you from reciving emails. It should have an email section in it's options... just disable email scanning and it should be fine.
