I don't know the answer. The program always gets good reviews, and I have never had any spyware on my machine. Remember, all, you need Ad-Aware SE Plus to get the real-time monitoring benefits of Ad-Watch.

For those who still think that Windows Live OneCare still has a chance to improve, the new Bate version 2.0 is available for download at http://connect.microsoft.com/Survey/...842&SiteID=168

I use only Vista FW, Defender and Nod32. Fortunately, my machine has not been infected yet. :-)

  • Router with hardware firewall
  • F-Secure 2007 - takes care of anti virus, anti spam, spyware and firewall.
  • Common sense and discretion

"A bunch of common sense makes a lot of sense", that's for sure. One more thing I suggest is to back up your data. I don't use any backup software, but I make copies all my data. I can reinstall all my software if I have to, but my data is precious.

Desktop
1. WRT54G-Linksys Router - Firewall
2. AVAST Home Free - AV
3. Vista Bit Defender
4. UAC in Silent Mode but ON
5. Vista Firewall ON
I thought it was off but last time I looked Vista Firewall=On

Laptop
1. Wireless under Desktop Router - Firewall
2. Avast Home Free - AV
3. Vista Bit Defender
4. UAC On Silent Mode
5. Vista Firewall - On

I run Vista Manager on both systems to clean and remove junk files. RegCure, Defrag several times a week.

I have Windows firewall on, and have disabled Norton's. I don't want two firewalls conflicting.

My reasoning is that Windows loads before anything else, so I use that firewall.

Here is what I am doing currently much of the time: http://www.vistababble.com/forums/vi...-thoughts.html. But, when I am not using a VM, I use Bit-Defender (AV and malware) and ZoneAlarm (free). That's it.
