Will not allow me to access certain files

I'm not sure if this is normal or not, but Vista will not allow me to access certain files, saying "You'll need to prodive administrator permission to copy to this folder," although I am the administrator. Other times, which is really annoying, windows will pop up asking for administrative permission. Is there something I can do to stop this or is this normal?

You can turn UAC off by going Control Panel > User Accounts > Turn User Access Control On or Off. I am not sure I would do so though; it's a pretty good security feature. Also, once you turn it off you still may have to give yourself full permissions on and take ownership of some folders occasionally.

I am trying to delete the windows.old folder. That is possible correct? I turned off the UAC feature, I rebooted, and it still will not allow it.

You have to take ownership of the folder. Right click it... Properties... Security. You can gain ownership from there, then you can delete it.

Well, I got the whole owner thing down, but now I am having problems with the permissions. It says I do not have the permission to paste a file into a folder. I went to security and located my user name and made sure everything was checked, but when I try and paste the file, it says I still do not have permission. What can I do?
