| For any of you in the UK who read 'The Independent', you'll notice the last couple of days they have been giving away mini books called 'How to Master Your PC in Seven Days' which comes free with every paper. Now unfortunatly I've only got the first booklet which is based on Music (which came out a couple of days ago) and I've learnt so much from it. Like for example, the history of the MP3. I didn't know MP3 came out as early as 1994?! Just thought it came out when Napster was first released filled with illegal downloads. ![]() Speaking of Napster, I also didn't know that it was written by a 18 year old College student, his name Shawn Fanning. But even before the MP3 was possible, we had and still have Compact Discs which first went on sale in late 1982. Shame I didn't get to read the other booklets but apprantly you can order them anyway and they include...Video Editing, Social Networking, Blogging and Communication. It's funny how you take 15 minutes just to do a little quick reading and you learn so much from it. I know all of what I have learnt about can all be found on the Internet in a matter of minutes but sometimes its better just to learn from a book (known from the stone age lol). Just thought I would share that with you even though its probably not worth caring about .

| That's good info, but do you know that people pay to read this information on line? I don't mean to imply that you should copy the information and sell it on line, that would be copyright infringement. But what I means is that if you know how to write well, you can create little booklets in PDF format, get a website and sell this type of information. The hardest part would be the research, but most of that information can come from your own experience. |

| Hey right-on, I love the official Windows magazines from the UK! I have several of the (big glossy) XP issues but have yet to get a Vista one. (I have 2thick tomes and 1 quick read on Vista already). But now that I know fellow readers I'll have to start picking it up again. I also read PC Format,PC Utilities, and a couple more that I can't think of now, from the UK. I really enjoy them all. Just thought I'd let you hear from a Canadian fan. ???What's the Independent?? a paper, a mag? Just curious... |

| They're a good choice, I'm not a big fan but every now and again I pick up a copy. I still read ComputerActive, don't know why I still do seeing as they kinda for people who don't know much about computers and is jargon-free. But they do give out free downloads such as a 3 month subscription to Spyware Doctor, etc. I suppose they have intresting news articles (and it's the cheapest computer mag I know), I don't really read much of the workshops on how to do this and that becuase most of it I can do myself anyway.

| ComputerActive eh? I don't know if we can get it here. The Official Windows magazines cost 21.95 Canadian, by the time they get here and most of the others range from about 16.95 up. A less expensive one would be a welcome choice.Too bad that in Canada we can't take advantage of some of the contests and offers. |
