| ROFL! You have forgotten your password :scared: Have you tried it with Caps lock on/off? Otherwise, if there is another user on the system and they are an administrator, you could get them to save your files and recreate your account. If that's not possible, you could reinstall Vista over Vista which should keep all you files but give you a new user account. Could you give more details of your situation (ie; only user etc) and then we'll give you detailed instructions to sort you out Can't believe you forgot your password! crabby |

| Hmm... well, ok. Windows doesn't usually 'forget' passwords though. Anyway, you can use a password reset disk if you really want to. Here's a link on how to do it: Windows Vista Help: Create a password reset disk As I have never used one I don't know if it will work if you make it from another PC :scared: There is another option here: Password Recovery - Top 4 Free Windows Password Recovery Tools - Password Cracker It's a list of programs that can recover lost passwords for you, again I have never used them but know that they work. I'd try the first one. Good luck! And let us know how you get on! crabby |

Boot into safe mode. Click on the Vista orb and type, without quotes "Control Userpasswords2" and hit Enter On the "User" tab button, untick the "Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To Use This Computer" box. On the "User" tab click on your user name and then press the "reset password button" Type in a new password click "Apply, the "Ok," and restart When you come to the login screen enter your new password to login. Here is a more mechanistic approach.
