| Hello all, I'm having a real issue and would like to request some assistance. Dell Precision 530 (SCSI) Windows XP Professional SP2 & Latest Updates Rosewill RC-215 PCI SATA/ATA RAID Controller Nero 6 Ultra IMAPI = Disabled (1) Sony IDE DVD+/-RW DW-Q28A (2) Sony/NEC/Optiarc SATA DVD+/-RW DL AD-7190S Ok! While attempting to use multiple recorders (2), my system will only write to one drive at a time. It does not matter if I use the IDE and SATA drive either. Nero still burns to a single drive. While watching the Nero progress window, it shows the system writing to one drive for a moment, and then to the other, and back and forth until completion. It also takes 5x as long to complete the burning process when compared to a single disc burn. Another strange or odd occurrence, in the Device Manager, and while the Write options are available, I can only Write Enable ONE burner. If I navigate to the second burner and enable it, the first drive automatically disables writing. This is driving me nuts! ![]() Any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated!!! ![]() _______________________ After reconfiguring to make the Sony IDE drive the primary master, XP no longer recognized the drive as a burner, but Nero can burn with it. Also, after attempting a 4Gb ISO burn to both Optiarc drives, it continues writing to a single drive at a time. It's baffling that burning a 600Mb ISO allowed me to write to both drives simultaneously after the 50% point, but the larger ISO file would not. This truly is one of the most bizzare hardware issues I've run across. ![]() And, YES, this was originally posted on CDFreaks!

| Re: A Baffling Experience Most burning software don't have the capability of burning to more than one device at a time. The rational for this is this is not a commercial CD producing software. If you go to CDfreaks look around there is software that allows you to burn more than one cd at a time. Also download the CDRfaq or the DVDfaq they have better answers as to why.

| Re: A Baffling Experience I have a Sony DRU 510A and a Liteon LH-20A1P burner os slaves on seperate IDE channels and can burn to both at the sam time with Nero 7 Premium. One shows Smartburn and the other shows fastburn but it is burning both discs at the same time. |

| Re: A Baffling Experience I use Nero 7 as well; it is expressly designed to support running multiple burners in parallel. It burns two DVD's on my 2 IDE burners in just about exactly the same amount of time as burning 1 DVD requires. Not sure what to suggest about Spawn's problem, though. Regards, -- Al |

| Re: A Baffling Experience Well there you have it I learned something new. My neros date to 5.1.. Plus I didn't have all this money to spend on 2 CDRW let alone DVDRW back when CDRW were $200 a pop each. So there was no need to even investigate burning 2 cds at once.
