boot disk using flash drive

anyone know how to create an XP boot disk using a flash drive?...I'm trying to flash my BIOS, which I normally do through a floppy, but the BIOS file is too large to fit on a floppy...so I now need to be able to create a boot disk using my flash drive...I want to use it as an MS DOS start up disk, so I can boot from it...so how do I go about formatting it with MS-DOS (same as when you format a floppy disk under XP and it has a 'Create an MS-DOS startup disk')...anyone have any step by step instructions?

Use EZFlash2 if you have it using a flash drive works great, just plug it in a usb port and go into bios look under tools and EZFlash and follow the instructions!

when flashing with a floppy I would have to download the BIOS file and the AFUDOS utility...using EZ Flash all I would need is the BIOS file itself without AFUDOS correct?

Just download the file change the name to only 8 letters or numbers ( the ultilty will only see 8) like this P5E30903.rom and put it on the flash drive....

just received my 2 GB Corsair flash drive...very nice...I should have gotten one years ago...small as my pinky, very sturdy, simple to use---just plug it and pray, I mean play...Windows detected it right away and I have another E: drive added to my system...plug and play portable hard drives...amazing invention!!!...if I would have known they were this handy I would have ordered more...no more floppies for me!

I picked one up because it was faster and easier to backup files to a flash drive compared to a CD or DVD.

I just have to remember that in order to remove the flash drive properly you can't just unplug it from the USB port...you need to go into "Safely Remove Hardware" and remove it through there before unplugging to reduce the risk of data corruption

You'll love ezflash too by far the easiest way to update bios and the safest....

No need to format the flash drive. You go into the bios by hitting the DEL key, then you go to the Tools menu, go into Asus EZ Flash 2, select the bios file from the Flash drive, and install the bios.

oh ok...I already formatted it using FAT...don't think it does any harm...just for kicks I formatted it under FAT32 and I noticed I lost some hard drive space on my flash drive...looking around online apparently it is best to format using FAT...I thought formatting a flash drive worked/functioned the same way as formatting a floppy

My bad. I thought that you wanted to make your flash drive bootable.

I also formatted my flash drive using FAT as Vista says that this is the default method.

I initially wanted to make it bootable so I could use my flash drive in the same way as my floppy for BIOS updates but now that I know about EZ Flash there is no need for that...
