Can find \Windows\System32\config\system

Ive bought at 18 october 2002 a brand new system. It was a P4, 2,53, P4S8X, a Hercules 9700 pro, 80 gig Samsungs Spinpoint, 350 watt psu etc, os xp profesional.
I have builded the components together but the 9700 pro stayed dead. So i rma it and put my Gforce 2 mx in the system. This worked for almost three weeks.
After that period ive had a new 9700 pro. I put it in and the system works for almost three days. I turn the power on, played a game and then restarts the sytem. The system boots and just before the startup screen of xp profesional it said: CANT FIND \wINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEEM THIS FILE IS DAMAGED OR GONE (something like that but then in Dutch).

So i had to bring the whole system back to my supplier in Holland. I got my system back in two weeks. They put in a new mb (P4S8x), they said it was the ide, after two days the whole nightmare starts over again. Got the same error. (this happened two times)

After that they build in a P4PE got problems with the HD and after 3 a 4 days ive got the same error.

Please help me *** is going on.

Thx in advance

Highly likely that the problem is with your AGP video card. Try to update its driver from the manufacturer's website. Check its specification to make sure that it is compatible with your board's AGP setting (1.5v )

Your registry is getting corrupted. Possible causes:

1- bad IDE cable (I assume they were replaced when you swapped motherboard?) or bad HD.

2 - Overclocking beyond your hardware's capabilities to support it.

3 - Faulty RAM. Run a RAM test program such as this one:

http://www.memtest86.com/

4 - Virus. You can use TrendMicro's excellent HouseCall online scan if you don't have a virus checker, through their website: http://www.antivirus.com/

5 - Rogue software corrupting your installation

6 - Corrupted filesystem (I had that one). With XP the best thing is to backup the whole drive through NTBackup (do an ASR backup), format the drive, then restore it through the ASR. That's how I solved my filesystem issues here, the ASR made it painless.

7 - Disk defragmenter. I experienced such corruption myself while using Diskeeper on a system that had the Intel APplication Accelerator installed, also had issues whenever I used their boot-time defragmenter to defrag the MFT.

Hope these help,

Corrupted registries don't require a complete reinstall from scratch under WinXP. System Restore does backups of the registry, and here's the details on how to recover the registry out of a system that won't even boot anymore:

I would suspect that the psu is very minimal for that set up. All flakiness can and will be attributed to the lack of power. Sensitive components can act vey strange with a lack of proper power. I have seen it a million times here. Actually most issues with the 9700 cards are caused by a lack of power. These cards are massively power hungry..

Then why would this happen to my system, my psu should not have a problem handling the load of my computer?

It could very well be. I would try a different/powerful psu just to see if that fixes it.

Re-read what I wrote in message #3 in this thread for possible causes of registry corruption.
