| Well i tried hooking up one CD drive and hard drive on one ribbon on IDE1 and it worked fine. windows XP pro found it and i did restarts and it still was there and turned it off and still was there so im guessing its IDE2 is bad. Some how it might have had some kinda power spike cause the LED that used to light up when there was power doesnt come on anymore. I thought maybe the bulb went out but no after this im guessing its the IDE2 port. Im going to try putting on buring software and have the drive back on IDE2 and see what happens maybe there is some kinda conflict going on that decive manger is not finding. Thanks for all the help and suggestions. |

| WinXP has horrible problems with CDRW...especially older units. I am still working out details with a perfectly good CDRW that stopped responding after XP upgrade. The possible fixes are too numerous to wrte here. Suggest you read up on Microsoft Knowledge Base... |
