Question

I also have a Asus 50x and 8x DVD E608 which I cannot get DMA check to work in WinME. The bios detects that it supports UDMA 2 but it will not work in millinium with my CUSL2 board??
Also My plextor 12x10x32a doesnt show up in the bios as supprting DMA 2. Yet it will let me enable DMA in WinME??
I am currently using Bios 1003 but I have also tried 1005.6 and get the same results??

Any Ideas? This has been driving me crazy!

Please help!

DMA issues CUSL2

Sounds like this is a CUSL2 issue then?
I have tried to E-mail and call the Asus USA tech support (hah, what tech support?) and E-mail the TW tech also with no reply. No one seems to care over there.
Today I just E-mailed the German Techsupport since they right the BIOS.
I would appreciate if you guys could do the same so we can get this problem fixed.
What OS are you guys running? Not sure if this is just WinME.
I am going to try Win2K I know the 1003 bios fixed an issue with DMA 5 with Win2K. Who knows maybe this is what broke it for WinME/98SE?

I am using W2K, but I believe that since the bios recognises the drives as udma, it may be the intel drivers.

I have 2 Maxtor 52049H3 drives on one cable and the CDRW and DVD on another. The cables are 80 wire and DMA.

I wonder If I had 1 drive as master and 1 CD/DVD on each cable if this would fix the problem although it may slow down the access speed?

If you installed the Intel ATA files its automatically set to UDMA and you won't be able to manually enable it in any OS because its already enabled .Just go to Companion through the Start/Programs menus/Intel Ultra ATA Storage Driver/Companion ,and in Companion it should show all of your settings.

Question CUSL2 DMA issues

Well I dont even have the Intel drivers installed. I am currently running WinME and the Default Drivers which load. I loaded the Intel drivers and got blue screen after install and had to uninstall and it will also not let you update the chipset drivers because it loads its own.
I can get DMA to work with my Toshiba 6x DVD but the Asus CD-rom and DVD drive will not and they are newer.
I could be the drivers? But they dont work?
I do have a feeling it could be related to the chipset drivers that are loaded from Microsoft.

I dont know what the deal is?
