Changing size of partitions

The hard disc in my Everex XT5000T notebook is a 100GB Fujitsu. It has two equal 50GB size partitions. The notebook OS is Vista Home Premium.

Is there a way to do away with the second partition (D:\) and make the Fujitsu only have a single 100GB C:\ partition without losing Vista and my other software programs presently on the first partition, Drive C:\?

Partition Magic is an oldie but goodie. I still use it from time to time.
There may be some newer programs now that are more current - I believe I've heard of Acronis being used by members here at the forum.

Acronis true image version 10 will handle Vista nicely.
I dont know if they have a version of PM that supports Vista yet.

I strongly recommend you dont use Ghost.

What happened to you with Ghost?

I still run Ghost 2003 from its floppy with no problems.

The latest edition from Acronis does support vista. Ranish is another to try, been out for years and does things that other partition managers cannot do and yet it's free.
Ranish Partition Manager. Hard Disk Partitioning Software. Download freeware tools and source code...

Well, last version of Ghost I used was 2003 and it caused serious issues, PC failed to reboot, had to rebuild the MBR, hard to delete their virtual partition and re-activate the primary partition, etc. Also after I DID finally get it to copy it seemed to be extremely slowwww.
I was using the gui version, not the DOS, but it just reboots into PCDOS anyway.

Acronis on the other hand had no problems.

Yeah, thats version 10 which I recommended to him, but I'm not sure about PM - Partition Magic.

I used PM on my Vista partition to increase the size...I originally set it at the recommended size and it ate it up - had to change it...
I know it's an old program, but it worked flawless for me - didn't affect the operation of Vista at all.
If I was interested in the latest, I'd be looking hard at Acronis.
Ranish sounds interesting too (never heard of that one). If PR likes it, that's a pretty good recommendation...
