| Dead Maxtor Hard Drive? Last night my computer just randomly freezed up while playing battlefield 2. I restarted it and it wouldent boot up into windows it just hung there and the hard drive was making a repetitive clicking noise. I tried reformating the hard drive and was successful. When I got into windows and reinstalled all of the drivers and rebooted it just hung at the loading screen again. I rebooted several times and it just hung there again. I tried reformating again and this time all I heard was the clicking noise coming from the hard drive. Its like a single repetitive click louder then the hard drive read noise is a lot louder. The hard drive is still detected in the BIOS though. Do you guys think the hard drive is dead? I can RMA it its less then a year old how is Maxtor RMA? Thanks please help quick!

| Personally, if a HD ever "clicks" I RMA it or trash it. If you are in the RMA period go to Maxtor and get a new drive. Do you have any critical data on the drive? If so, do you have another computer you can hook it to? Hook it up as a storage drive and see if you can retrieve the data.

| When a harddrive starts clicking like that, it's a sign that the drive is on the verge of dying. If the drive is still under warranty, I would RMA it.

| Good thing I have no important data on it. I called the store I bought the drive from and they have a 1 year store replacement so tomorrow they will be giving me a new 320GB Seagate SATA 2 hard drive to replace it so thankfully I wont have to wait to RMA it. Thanks for the help guys!

| Sounds like a great customer service policy to me. Congrats, I hate RMAs.

| I just bought a copy of Yellowbeard. It has finally been rereleased on DVD. It was about $15 on Amazon. I also have an OLD VHS copy too. One of my favorite movies of all time.
