dvd burner problem

Ive been using the same i/o magic dvd burner for about a year now and latey it start making weird clicking noises. So 2 days ago i go buy a new Lite-on dvd burner its been nice and quit, now everytime i turn my pc on or start it making clicking noise like my other drive. so i put my old drive in my server and it doesnt make any noise. is there something in machine that would cause this? bad ide cable or something.

I don't know the only thing maybe is your PS is starting to go out??? Somebody else will come back with help. You could try a different 4 pin molex connector on your dvd burner and see if that helps....

well i played around with 3 different plugs and co change i also unpluged the ide cable no help. i mite try it in my server to see if it does the samething.

Try deleting the ide channel the drive is on & let windows reinstall it,if this fails new 80 wire ide cable.
