Re: Firmware HELP !

Try DriverGuide.com (printer drivers, cdrom drivers, modem drivers, sound drivers, mouse drivers, monitor drivers, etc.) - DriverGuide.com . Gotta sign up but,Painless, and I never get any spam from them. I have found it to be a very useful site.

Thumbs up Re: Firmware HELP !

CD freaks will have everything imaginable for that. They have every firmware, and modded firmwares for DVD burners. Just look up the info on your drive over there. THey'll have flashing tools, and complete instructions.

Arrow Re: Firmware HELP !

First off, it's NOT a driver, it's a firmware. You have to flash the firmware onto an eprom (little chip that is flash memory) that's built into the drive. To do that, you need a utility that takes the firmware and flashes it onto the drive. Your firmware updater failed, it can't find the drive. Maybe the flash tool isn't compatable with the controller the drive is plugged into, or you have to point the flasher to the drive. Check out the sony liteon forum, and try their flashing tools. You might have to try another flash tool, and download the firmware as a BIN file or something. I've ALWAYS had good luck with the CD freaks site, maybe join up there and ask. Look at the EPROM utility, and the flash utility threads. There will be COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS for flashing there using different methods. Along with notes on compatability of controllers and whatnot. I'm not going to spoon feed you, you'll have to read up a bit.

Glad you got it working, flashing sometimes gets a little tricky. Maybe post the specifics of how you did it???
