Can someone please tell me why my CUSL2 will no longer format a floppy diskette. It will let me copy files form the hard drive to the diskette, delete files and most other things except format the disk. Here is one typical message I get: 'There is no disk in this drive or the drive door is open' Now this is crazy because before I attempted to fomat it, I just finished deleting files, copying files etc, to this same diskette. Can someone please help me. I need a floppy drive. I don't know if my assuming is correct, but I am almost ready to come to the conclusion that the motherboard has gone lame. Otherwise everything else is ok. I am using the latest bios revision, and I had this same problem with 1003. Thanks Jeff

Yes I have Yes, I tried formatting from the dos prompt. I even went so fast as to install msdos 6.2, no windows environment and makes no difference what operating system is used. I can, write to, delete from, and most other things. The only thing I can't do is format. There is someone else who put up a post about the cusl2-c doing the same thinig. I wish I could get it fixed. I am almost at my end with ASUS and about ready to go get an intel board. This is probably the worst problem I have had with the CUSL2 board. Except for the flopppy format problem, I can't say that I have had any problems at all. Jeff

The next step in finding the problem causer involves a friend with a working floppy drive and cable. The first thing to do would replace the cable with one from the other computer. If that doesn't work try the floppy drive. If that doesn't work try your floppy in the friends computer. Now if it works then it must be the board cause you already said that you have tried different OS'.

FLOPPY CABLE You just can't use any floppy cable in the computer can you? I had a spare floppy cable at home from another computer, and when I used that try to rule out a bad cable, it would not work at all. And I did notice a pin out difference from the cable that came with the board and the spare I had. FYI: I have already tried two new floppy drives using the cable that came with the board. Results were a failure. I moved the floppy drive to another computer I have, and it worked. If the cable was bad, would I still be able to read, write, and delete? It is only formatting that I can't do. Thanks, Jeff
