HELP

I planing to get a WD 80 G , 8 MB Buffer

According to WD specification the config for the dirve should be ...

Configuration
Cylinders 16,383
Number of Heads (Logical) 16
Number of Heads (Physical) 4
Sectors Per Track 63
Formatted Capacity 80,026 MB


How do i format that ???
Should i use the WD Data Lifeguard v10.0 provided in the website and format it and able to get the above config ....

Sorry, the D/L instructions are pretty old. Here's how to get the util. that you can use to benck IDE RAIDs. (NOTE: Look for the "ATTO benchies" thread for some tests to compare to, & see how we're configuring ATTO. Different setups will give different results: pay attention to all the settings in the screenshots so you can get a reasonable comparison)

Go to http://attotech.vwh.net/software/

Select Applications/Tools/Utilities

Enter name & email

Select ATTO ExpressPCI HostAdapter Utilities

Download Windows SCSI Utilities Version 1.63

i just installed a new diamond max 9 89 gig with 8 mb cache maxtor drive and tried using powmax program to check it....it can't see the drive..........says drive not found.................i tried same program with other older maxtor drives and it runs fine.I guess maxtor's program needs updating? anyone else have similair experiance?

its normal, powermax cant find bios info on new motherboards. i had the same issue

maxblast 3 recognized my drives, and maxtor guy said its fine as long as maxblast sees it.... he said they will release a new powermax soon.
