| I have noticed lately that my HD access seems to have slowed down. It`s seems like when you have your HD on suspend mode and you get back to your PC after a while, there is a noticable pause... Its been hapening on a regular basis now, even whilst running software aplications (a slight pause followed by the HD spining noise). It never used to hepen before. I have recently downloaded/installed the Windows IDE Hard Drive Cache Package (version 4,10,0,2222) from the Windows update site, but I remember installing it in the hope that it would sort out the problem...*sigh* Any help/advice would be verry welcome. Also, I am using the ASUS CULS2 ACPI BIOS Revision 1003. Is it worth attempting to upgrade the BIOS? I have the ASUS Update software, with the option on it to update the BIOS automatically through the Internet...Is this a recommended way to do it for a Rookie first time PC builder like myself? My system specs : My System: PIII EB 933 mhz Cusl2 Mobo 30 Gig Segate HD 512 Ram (crucial/133hz) Pionner DVD/CD Rom Yamaha burner SoundBlaster Live Platinum Sony 21" trini Monitor Coolmaster Case TNT2 Ultra Graphics card Many thanks |

| Scandisk, defrag, have you tried this? Swap file memory large enough? Try putting one stick of memory in slot one only. The manufacture of your HD, may have a utility on their Web site, that you can download to check HD with. 1003 BIOS is fine. But if you do upgrade the bios, the Asus update is an ok method.

| Get Norton SpeedDisk, They have it on there website http://www.norton.com It comes in the norton Utilites package and you can download it and use, I had the same problem but 1 run of speeddisk fixed it -defrag
