| I have 2 twin PATA HDD ( 2xWD1200JB) in my I. IDE Channel (The first one is master & the second one is slave) & I have a Sony DRU510A DVD writer as a master in my II. IDE channel & a Sony CRW230A CD writer as a slave .... I use IAA BTW .... How can I enable the DMA function in my all drives ? ... There is not an option in the UI of IAA & device control center of XP about that , & some softwares(Nero, Alcohol) say that my slave drives are still "DMA off"... |

| Goto the Device Manager. Open IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers. Right-click and choose properties for Primary IDE Channel and Secondary IDE Channel. There will be an option under "advanced settings" for DMA and it will tell you what mode you are currently running in for each drive on the channel. Select "DMA if available" for all of your drives. If you restart and Window still reports them in PIO mode, check your BIOS to make sure transfer modes are all set to Auto or forced to DMA. |

| IAA is supposed to take care of turning on DMA mode. When you open up IAA and look at the drive settings, it should say dma mode 2 for your cd devices and dma mode 5 for your ultra100 hard drives.

| Did you install IAA again? I have always install IAA because it automatically takes care of the DMA issues I had with the default windows drivers.
