| How to Set STR ---------------------- You can use Suspend To Ram (STR) features with Win98/98SE & WinME. I haven't used it in W2K. Please look at this link http://cusl2.efront.com/vbulletin/sh...?threadid=2502 which tells you about STR's requirement (Power Supply, USB, etc). Assuming you have read above link & just use PS2 keyboard & mouse, here's the step: 1. in mobo, set Keyboard Power Up (KBPWR) jumper to Enable (it's default from factory to default, but double check it). See page 20 in CUSL2 manual 2. in Bios, go to Power Menu (page 69 in manual). Leave everything to default setup except: 3. Suspend-to-RAM Capability: set to enabled (page 70) 4. Go to Power Up Control (page 71). Leave everything to default, except: 5. Wake On PS2 KB/PS2 Mouse/CIR: set to Enabled (page 72) 6. Wake Up By Keyboard: Choose whatever you want. Default is Space Bar (page 72). Restart your system. In windows Right Click in Windows Desktop, select Properties\Screen Saver\Settings under Power Schemes select System stand by and choose the desired one. Press OK, then Apply. You should be able to perfrom STR now. But check the requirement first.

| If you want to try STR right away, just enter the value in Power Schemes with 1 minute or less. Then don't move any mouse scroll and don't touch keyboard, just wait. I have Microsoft Internet Keyboard Pro USB that have "Sleep" button which enables me to do STR right away. No you don't have to reinstall the OS again to perform STR. After doing the above things. Try this: If you turn your computer off, then do not turn off the power from your UPS or from socket wall. That is actually the green light is still on in mobo. This is the beauty of STR. If you use just ps2 keyboard & mouse you can start turn on your computer by pressing Space Bar (or whatever you have assigned it in BIOS) or just by moving your mouse. Your computer will be booting as you would you press the power. I have done this with Win98Se & ME with ps2 keyboard & mouse. I'm using USB mouse/keyboard right now, and I can not perform STR booting as I have described above with this devices, because you should have ATX PSU with 2 Amperes on the + 5 VSB ((Volt Standby Lead). But I still can perform sleep mode within STR, with all the fans & hdd turn off, and only required fans on with minimal rpm.
