| I always get RAID edition hard drives I always get RAID edition hard drives and use them. Is it a good or bad thing to do? What exactly is "Fast Low power RAID-specific, time-limited error recovery (TLER) Rotary Acceleration Feed Forward (RAFF) SecureConnect FlexPower" all about? ![]() __________________ Visit and chat with the Buds at the #ABxZone channel on EFnet Internet Relay Chat If you don't have it then download mIRC from www.mIRC.com |

| Marketing, it seems. I've read about there being a technical difference, although I'm not sure if it's effect is beneficial in home/non-RAID use.

| IIRC at least Western Digital recommends that regular consumers buy the consumer editions, not the RAID editions. But I don't know why. As for terminology, there's some info on that here: Western Digital's 500GB Caviar RE2 and SE16 hard drives - The Tech Report - Page 1
