I just bought my very first Plextor drive

Actually I just bought two brand new Plextor drives.

And yes it is ---> The very first time I will ever own any Plextor drive.

Bought was a brand new factory sealed retail box Plextor PX-755UF 16x External Firewire/USB2 DVD drive.

Also bought was a brand new factory sealed retail box Plextor PX-760A 18x internal DVD drive.

Drives should arrive next week. (I got tired of waiting for X48. Gotta fix this buy some hardware bug)

Did I make a good choice?

Re: I just bought my very first Plextor drive

Sounds like you did good. I believe those two drives are the last of the true "Plextor designed" ones. Wouldn't go any newer than that thought. Unforunately, Plextor has joined the ranks of companies rebranding units from another manufacturer... and they're still in love with their name brand to boot!

Good luck Plextor, you're now selling the same hardware everyone else is, but at twice the price!!!! I'm not gonna be you're stooge!!!!!!

Personally, I stopped buying Plextor after purchasing a pair of PX-716s. It was clearly evident to me that quality was beginning to drop off. Took them over a year to release a firmware update that finally corrected glaring DVD read compatibility issues. Makes me wonder if they hadn't already checked out well before the switch to re-branding. Guess the profit margins just weren't what they were used to anymore!

Re: I just bought my very first Plextor drive

I loved my earlier Plextor drives, but it slowly became that everyone else's drives were coming up in quality, and Plextor became marginalized. My 35 dollar Samsung burner burns as well as any of my Plextors ever did.
