IBM 180GXP drives?

What’s the deal on the new 180GXP series hard drives from IBM? For the last 6-8 months I kept hearing that they were getting out of the hard drive business but now I see a new series of hard drives. What gives? Thanks in advance.

Well apparently they made one final effort to release a good drive before the Hitachi takeover. The 180gxp looks very good if you look at the specs, 8 MB cache, tag'n'seek technology, aluminium discs, FDB motors. Hopefully Storagereview will put up a review of this baby soon. It looks like this is the ATA drive to get for christmas.
