IDE Cable Question I have one of those WD 80 gig special addition drives. I once notice that my HD scores are lower than other with the same drive. Recently i noticed that the drive has a cable with DMA 66 printed on it. My drive is ATA 100. Does this cable hinder the performance of my drive or is it basically the same.

You need an ATA100 cable to run ATA100 HDD...YES...performance will suffer. (You should have received an ATA100 cables with your Motherboard, provided the onboard IDE controller supports ATA100)

Like jcash suggests, you need the 40pin/80 wire cable. ATA/66 should ship with one of those though?? You can get different scores with the same drive, depending whether its full or not. Defragging can make a big difference too. ddd

ATA66 cables should be OK: they normally have 80 wires (and grey/black/blue connectors). Maybe yours has a problem. You should try another one, and also try a second benchmark tool to confirm the problems: if you use Sandra, the HD benchmark results are influenced by the physical placement of the partitions on the disk.
