| ITE Raid controller I have been using the ITE raid controller upon my GA-sinxp motherboard and im having some quite strange results.... I have been using a Raid 0 array 32k stripe size (have also tried 8, 16 and 64k stripe sizes) with 2x60GB seagate ata 100 drives and the performance of the drives is terrible. When the drive is partitioned into 1 partition (the c drive) with windows loaded onto it results are very very poor and the drives run extreemly slowly. Although if i partition the drive into two partitions, 1 partition is 10Gb for windows and the other 104gb for storage this is where the results become really weird... When i run bentchmarking tests on the two partitions the performance of the 104GB partition is double that of the 10GB partition for windows! I have put over 1GB of data on the storage partition and the more data i put on the results seem to stay pretty much the same! I was wondering if anyone had any ideas why this is running so slowly when windows is loaded onto it... I have tried everything that i can possibly think of!! Thanks very much in advance and sorry for the long post!! |
