New Plextor DVD drive.

Plextor announces Windows Vista-compatible DVD burner

This one looks good. Haven't been to the Plextor site but it should be available in SATA. I thought this company was closing but it doesn't look like it.

Here it is:
Plextor > Products > PX-800A Super Multi Drive

I can't believe this thing goes for $79 with all that software. I sure hope the same quality exists in their drives. I might get this later.

This new Plextor seems a rebadge Nec/Optirac 7170A. By Vista compatible they mean the software, i think..because any dvd bruner works on vista.

That sounds right ...
Plextools and Plextools XL don't work with VISTA at the moment.

The 760A was the last Plextor drive and a premium at that.
There are still some around if anyone is interested.

EIDE? It's good they are appealing to the legacy interface users, but alot of us moved on to SATA a while ago.

Personally, I would stay away from PATA. This is not bad at all for the cost, and is what is in my current system: Newegg.com - LITE-ON Black 16X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 16X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA DVD Burner with Replaceable White Front Panel - Retail
