| P4PE's Promise controler & STR I just discovered today that when my P4PE running WinXP came out of STR (Suspend To RAM), the drive hooked to the Promise controler would give me a maximum of 4 MB/s instead of the usual 30-40 MB/s. I suspect that when the PC comes out of STR, the controler doesn't set the drive to UDMA mode, so it's stuck in slow-*** PIO mode. Anyone else noticed that behaviour? I noted it through two different benchmark tools, just rebooting the system restored full UDMA performance. This is, like, quite annoying...

| For what it's worth, I have never had any luck using any of Window's "energy saving" features (regardless of whether it was 98/98SE/Me/XP). I only use them on a laptop when I have to do so to maintain battery life, since they cause all sorts of problems--like the one you are experiencing. |

| I like the STR because it means I can boot my PC to a working desktop in less than 5 secs when I get up on mornings
