pci or pci-e sata expansion card ???

i might be needing a sata port card in pci or pci-e format.
but only if there are no issues and they work just as if i would use the motherboard sata ports and specifically if there is an option in it's onboard bios (which i assume it would have) to turn them all off.
once turned off xp/vista should NOT pick up any devices connected to the card. (it will ONLY run sata dvd-rw's)

has anyone come across such a card ?
the better the brand and so the merrier.

thanks...

I think SllG makes one. And couldn't you just disable/enable it in device manager?

Re: pci or pci-e sata expansion card ???

no, well yes you can but that doesn't work.. they are not truly disabled. windows still sees them. i don't know if it's well known but sata devices unlike eide even when disabled from bios can still be seen by xp. so i need a solution where i don't have to open the bloody case each time i need to disable the drives. (because atm, i need to unplug them manually to achieve total and proper disabling)

ps: and i should have stated, aldo it is implied... link ??? SIIG means nothing to me.

Re: pci or pci-e sata expansion card ???

BTW! I have used this brand of controller cards in the past, as I'm sure many members of this forum have. And I've found them to be very reliable and of good quality.
