Have a Plll 866 set up with a CUSL2------after it runs awhile it locks up----on restart gets "Primary Hard Disc Fails" and thats all it does. I tried a new re-formatted identical hard drive without any windows or drivers loaded and fault still occurs. Replaced the problematic Viperll card with an ATI and still the fault occurs after the machine has run for about an hour. Once it starts----it cannot boot past that fault. With all PCI cards removed and the BIOS cleared---no help. I know that hard drive is not bad----the text of the fault is not true---but what could be causing this?

Check your bios settings make sure IDE (HD is on) is set to auto, if it is you may need to change to user define and put specs in manually...

Hello,

Does the drive make any wierd noises? Does the drive stay fully powered up or can you hear it spin up and spin down? You might be facing a bad drive, you might want to go the manufactures web site and see if there is a utility that can test the drive and see if it is defective.
