Re: Raptor - Worth it?

Yes, just defrag once a week and the raptor really does fly. The price/peformance suXors - but I still think it worth it as a boot drive.

the 150 GB Raptor's are way too loud for my tastes...the 74/36 GB Raptor is much more quiet and the better choice

But still ... Is there a way to mount the drive in a case so one can watch it in action?

in some cases you can mount the hard drives vertically, maybe that's the way to watch it spinning

Right, tho I'll just make a hole in the top cover... raptor sits on top of a 1tb barracuda..

I only notice it on seeks, but that could be due to the two 120mm, not silent, fans I having running to cool the case (makes me want to go back to H2O).

I find that in idle mode, my 150 is quieter than my 74.

However, during seeks the 150 is a little "harsher." But I also have a pretty quiet system - I don't think I would notice it as much if I had loud fans.
