Yup - it made little difference for me - with this board anyhow...

Thanks again Ozzie. You are the [AB] "God of RAID" as far as I am concerned. Point Gorgo, and Pbyer are up there too but you seem to have WAY more time invested in testing and I am dying for good SOLID information!

2.34 is the newest HighPoint driver version for the RocketRaid 100 FYI.

I will be running a dual boot with 98SE and XP probably. Oh yea, may throw linux on somewhere. What else am I gonna do with 160 gigs of HD space on the RAID, not to mention the 80 gig Max D740X and Max 40 giger.

You aren't running the SE's on the HighPoint so now I'm scared sh*tless again. I despertly don't wanna get something that is gonna suck as bad as my first one did..........

There just doesn't seem to be that much information about putting the 8 mb drives on a RAID card.

Guess I'll have to ponder this another couple weeks and see what I can come up with. Oh well, a TWO gig drive isn't that bad to use.

The race for quality has no finish line- so technically, it's more like a death march.

XP Pro has treated all SCSI and 'real' RAID controllers the same-slow. MS is aware of this and is trying to fix it. My 7210 gives the same exact scores as some of the SCSI drives-says a lot about the 3Ware and the quality it has.

I can't sell my 3Ware, which has a 3 year warranty, my order did not go through. Oh well, order an Epox 8rda and an XP2100+ proc instead.

Well, I just couldn't help myself. I ordered a HighPoint RocketRAID 100. Just staring at these brand new drives is killing me! UPS ground from CA to OH takes a week or more so it will be the week of the 26th until I get it. I guess I waited this long and I will be away next weekend so I couldn't play anyway.

Wish me luck!

Hey All,
i've had 2 of the WD 120GB 8MB SE for while running on the onboard promise. i've never tested the speeds (and wasn't daring enough to install the tweak sugested here) ...
what would be the best way for me to benchmark my setup and then speed it up ?
