| SATA cable - clip - no clip - right angle As some Buds know, I am (finally) adding SATA drives. I notice some SATA cables have no clips and some SATA cables have one clip and some SATA cables have a right angled plug. Which is best to use? And since there's only one side that has a clip, which side does the clip get plugged into, motherboard or drive? ![]() __________________ Visit and chat with the Buds at the #ABxZone channel on EFnet Internet Relay Chat If you don't have it then download mIRC from www.mIRC.com |

| I don't know if there's an official right way, but I just use whichever is convenient. The clips keep them from getting knocked off, but on some systems the clip has nothing to clip to. The right angle side can get in the way on a motherboard. If I had the option I would use clips whenever possible.

| Yeah I wouldn't worry about the clips too much. Like Jorrell said not all devices have anything to clip to anyway. They do not fall out all that easy and if one did come loose even while the PC is running it's no big deal. Kinda like pulling out a flash drive with hot plugging. You can even plug the SATA power in and out while it's running. That took me a little getting used to. Wouldn't want to try that with a Molex connector. SATA is sweet for cable organization if nothing else. You wont miss the IDE ribbons!

| The right angle connector is great for when your HDD's sit transverse to the motherboard and a normal cable would be pushed into the side of the case when it's put on. |
